This was a quick snap shot of my friend Michelle and her adorable little boy. I love the expressions, but I don’t love the background, which had stuff hanging on the wall in our bedroom.

more studio work

March 02nd, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

After shooting Bryn, I did a short session with my friend and fellow DC dancers, Jean. Her new bangs gave here a very 1930s look, very vampish. I was playing with some dramatic lighting, I love the shadows that highlight her cheek bone on this one.

trying to get back on track

March 01st, 2009 | Category: Photography, Uncategorized

When I originally set up this blog, the idea was to force myself to create and post art.  To challenge myself not to spend too much editing my work, being too critical. Now that I am getting seriously into photography, I want to get back to that.  I am going to start trying to take my camera with me more often and take more pictures.  I would like to try and post once a week—more if possible. The first one I want to post, is this photo of Bryn that I took on Wednesday.  I really love the intensity in her eye, while there is a still a softness.  In this photo she strikes me as challenging and wise. I may play around with this photo a bit later—making it black and white, except for the eye—maybe.

lucky 13

September 09th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

It’s hard for me to believe that it’s been 13 years since Dan and I had our medieval wedding at my parents house. During that time, we have moved 4 times and lived on two coasts.  And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Happy anniversary, darling, here is to 13 more!

my baby brother tied the knot

September 02nd, 2008 | Category: Life, Uncategorized

So last weekend I traveled to the east coast to be in my brother’s wedding. I have to say I was a little more emotional then I expected to be. The wedding was lovely, and Joy, the bride, was so beautiful and far more calm than I expected. Dan and I were both in the wedding, and Dan spent the day drinking with the boys, while the girls got up early and spent the day in the beauty salon. The couple are now honeymooning in Prague!

joss whedon is my master now

July 14th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

Just watched the first episode of Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. It’s free and on the web, so please check it out. It is so worth it.

I loved “Once More with Feeling”, the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The only problem with “Once More” was that the only way you could truly appreciate it was if you watched all 5 1/2 previous seasons of Buffy. And while I encourage everyone to watch Buffy from the beginning, it’s not that sort of thing I can show my non-Buffy fans and say “get it?” Dr. Horrible goes straight to the musical—and Neil Patrick Harris starring as the titular evil genius and he just nails it to the wall. He is so funny, I am so happy that he has got his own back after being out of the spotlight for so long. Nathan Fillion as the oafish hero hams the hell out of the roll, just as it should be.

The only down side is there seems to be some problems buying the video on itunes, but hopefully that will be solved, soon.

new cool web toy

July 13th, 2008 | Category: Fun, Uncategorized

This was just too cool not to play with and post about. I just found wordle, which lets you make “word clouds” of text or feeds from RSS enable sites or blogs. There is a bunch of customizing that you can do, or let it randomize. I am sure might be a little different if I had been blogging more, but being a designer with a love of typography, I just love it. So here are two examples of my blog as word art. What does your blog look like?
